Many people wonder how to make money online. I have found a good way, which involves selling products with resell rights. There are a lot of packages available with a whole bunch of products that come with resell rights, but some are better than others.

You need to make sure you are getting a good selection of products and that the products are fairly recent. Older products tend to be available for free download or for joining opt-in mailing lists on people’s sites.

Once you have bought a good selection of products to sell the question is how do you sell those products? Many people look to eBay, the massive online auction site to sell digital downloads. Frequently this breaks the terms of the resell rights for the product in question. You may get your listing removed or may even get banned from eBay if you don’t check your resell rights license.

That said, profits can be made on eBay, especially if you have a product which nobody else is selling. Check the resell rights license and if it allows you to sell on eBay give it a go.

Of course you will have to pay listing fees and that is the downside of selling through eBay. The good news is that there are a lot of other places you can sell online.

The first decision you need to make is, are you going to sell from your own website or not? Setting up your own website with automated delivery and payment system may seem daunting but is actually not as hard as it may seem.

If you have some money to invest, it’s worth picking up a domain and cheap hosting and looking for a script to handle your downloads and payments. There are many available and you will need to have an idea of who you are going to use for your online payments.

Many people use PayPal when they get started rather than going for a dedicated credit card processor which normally charges a monthly fee. PayPal isn’t perfect and it is possible for them to freeze your account for suspicious activity. But it is free to setup and their fees aren’t too bad when you’re starting out.

If you don’t want your own website there are lots of free file hosting services available where you can store your digital products. There are also many sites where you can sell your products like Clickbank. The key here is not to rush and plan and research everything carefully rather than jumping in.

You won’t make tons of cash to start with. Everyone is trying to make a quick buck on the Internet and frequently people will tell you how easy it is to make money with their miracle product. What they don’t tell you is that it is actually quite hard work selling on the Internet.

People are bombarded every hour of the day with salesy e-mails, popups and sites trying to sell them their products. People have become quite guarded on the net and while it’s possible to sell to people you need to remember this fact. Don’t become another spammer because then you are just going to annoy people.

Once you’ve decided on your selling strategy you will need to promote your products. There are so many ways to do this that I could write many separate articles on that subject.

In short there are two ways to get people to look at your product. Paid advertising and Unpaid advertising.

Paid advertising can include buying ad space on popular websites and also Pay Per Click ads like Google AdWords (not to be confused with AdSense where they pay you).

Unpaid advertising includes anything and everything you can do online to promote your products or website where it doesn’t cost you a dime!

This can include Article Marketing, Forum Posting, Blogging, Social Bookmarking, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), E-mail Marketing, Social Network Marketing (using sites like MySpace & Facebook), Link Exchange, Video Marketing (on sites like YouTube), Press Releases, Directory Submission and many others.

You could easily spend several months learning about any one of the above techniques. The trick is to learn one technique well enough to start using it and then start learning another. A lot of people pick things up as they go along but a lot also get it wrong and learn from their mistakes.

Making mistakes can be costly in both time and money and once you make a huge mistake you’re unlikely to make the same mistake again. I know someone who thought it would be a good idea to use Pay Per Click advertising to promote their hot new product. They ended up wiping out their entire budget in less than a week!

There is a lot to be said for holding back and doing proper research and planning. But you also need to be bold and try things in order to find a formula that works. Be cautious but not over cautious. You can always make changes as you go along but just be sure you are heading in the right direction.

If you find that you need to learn about a particular topic such as Article Marketing or Search Engine Optimization, find yourself a few good products with resell rights. That way you can learn and earn at the same time!
